Lambda Chapter Recruitment Video - Fall 2020

A Letter From Our President

Hello,

For over 100 years, Tau Kappa Epsilon has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of young men at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. It is, and always has been, our mission to aid men in their mental, moral, and social development. Since 1917, we have exposed young men to the resources and experiences that shape their collegiate and professional lives.

Today, our chapter thrives and continues to support its members in all aspects of life. With over 135 members, our house serves as a beacon for all fraternal, educational, and social interactions. Through involvement in leadership positions, academic workshops, scholarships, and many other offerings, the men of the Lambda Chapter give themselves the best opportunity to grow and develop during their time on campus.

Outside of our house, our members look to leave a stamp on the Madison community through involvement in campus organizations such as Investment Banking Club, club and intramural sports, Humorology, and Pre-Law Society, to name a few. Philanthropically, Tau Kappa Epsilon partners with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The men of Lambda are proud to report that we are one of the top fundraising chapters in the nation, eclipsing $90,000 during the 2022-2023 school year! This includes more than $31,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and roughly 2,500 volunteer hours contributed by the men of Lambda chapter!

In sum, Tau Kappa Epsilon is home to a family of men with a diverse mix of interests, hobbies, and personalities, and we work together to help our brothers achieve their goals. From brotherhood nights, to organized socials, to a vast alumni network, our events and amenities help our brothers become better men. I have made my best college memories with my brothers in Tau Kappa Epsilon, and I hope to make more with you soon! Please reach out to us if you are interested in joining, and I look forward to seeing you during rush in the fall. Thank you.

Why join a fraternity?

It is not unusual to hear a fraternity man credit his chapter for contributing more to his education than the classes he attended at college. Why?

As a new student to UW Madison, you are no doubt being hit with a barrage of information about the wide variety of experiences that college life has to offer. Spend as much time as possible reading and evaluating this information, the things that you will learn are not fabrication, and if you’re serious about making the most of college and life, you will find them important.

A lot of students attend UW Madison. People from backgrounds as far ranging as you can imagine. You will come into contact with many in your classes. Some you will develop friendships with. You will also get a first class education inside of the classroom from quality faculty. However, you will do your greatest learning outside the classroom, and you will develop your lifelong friendships from those you meet in organizations.

And guess what? It is these things which the Greek system is best at helping develop. It is these abilities, this learning outside of the classroom that makes the greek system what it is. By banding together as a group of individuals with common objectives, an atmosphere is fostered where leadership, communication, conflict management and interpersonal skills are demanded. Out of this need springs learning, adapting and personal growth. Fraternity life, above all the many other benefits it offers, gives you practice for life in the real world.

So, when you hear a fraternity man credit his success to his fraternity…believe him!

Out of the 5,000 general fraternity chapters, a majority consistently achieve higher grade point averages than the all male averages.

  • 65% of fraternity members graduate from college, compared with only 45% of non-members.
  • Of the current United States Senators ad Representatives, 24% are fraternity members.
  • 85% of the U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1910, have been Greek.
  • Of the nation’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Greeks.
  • 85% of Fortune 500 executives are fraternity members.
  • 71% of the Who’s Who in America listees are also fraternity members.
